Nature Walks at the Foot of Mt. Io (3.5 hrs)
Have a pleasant walk in a unique natural environment at the foot of an active volcano. Meet at the Kawayu Visitor Center and start to walk from the forest of Sakhalin Spruce to the Kawayu train station via the natural garden of Labrador Tea and Japanese Stone Pines. You’ll see a real active volcano just in front of you during the walk.

Primeval Forest Hike of Nibushi Peninsula (3.5 hrs)
The Nibushi Peninsula is a great habitat of wildlife. The nature trail is surrounded by many kinds of broadleaf trees and Sakhalin Fir (a hardy conifer found across Hokkaido). The view of Lake Kussharo from the small beach is a highlight. If you’re lucky, you may hear the drumming of the Black Woodpecker – the largest woodpecker in Japan.

Lake Mashu Scenic Trail Hike (4.0 hrs)
Starting at the Lake Mashu Observation Deck No.1, the trail goes up to the peak of Mt. Mashu. We will hike up to the first lookout at the half way point of the trail where you can enjoy a spectacular view of Lake Mashu. On the way back, if the weather permits, the mountains of Akan-Mashu National Park and the vast wetland of Kushiro Shitsugen National Park can be seen in the distance.

- For some tours, the meeting place and the place where the tour ends are different. That means, you need to have your own car during the tour. However, we will be able to pick you up or drop you off at your accommodation within the town of Teshikaga, but please contact us in advance to make arrangements for this.
