When do I need to make bookings by?

  • Please book your tour 2 days in advance by 5 pm. However, if we don’t have a tour scheduled, we may be able to accommodate a last minute request if there’s availability. 

Is the starting time negotiable?

  • It depends on the tour. Please refer to the tour description on the page of “Tours”.

Do you accept credit cards?

  • We are sorry, but we can only accept cash in Japanese yen but for Kayak tours, you can use credit cards.

How do I cancel my bookings?

  • Please contact us as soon as possible, and by 3:00 pm on the previous day of the tour at the latest. There will be no cancellation fee at this stage.​
  • For Kayak Tours, please contact us 3 days prior to your tour date. After that, the cancellation fee is applied. Please refer to the cancellation policy in the Terms and Conditions for more details.

How will I be notified if my tour is cancelled?

  • We will inform you by email by the morning of the tour.

What is the minimum age to join the tours?

  • Minimum age is 3yrs.
  • Infant (3 – 4) and child (5 – 17) must join the tour with their parents or guardians aged 18yrs or older. There will be no tour fee for infants.

How fit do I need to be to join the tours?

  • The walks are generally leisurely and not too strenuous, allowing you time to take in the area’s flora and fauna.
  • Some trails include slopes and Kayak tours require a good level of physical fitness. Please refer to the tour description (Elevation Gain and Distance) on the “Hiking Tours” page and [Tour Details] for kayaking on the “Kayak Tours” page.

What should I wear and bring on Hiking Tours?

  • Long-sleeved tops (or lightweight hoodie) and long pants. We highly recommend long clothes, even in summer. Insects, including ticks, are common in Hokkaido’s forests. Long sleeves and pants will protect you from them and the rays of the sun, too.
  • Hiking shoes.
  • Waterproof rainsuit (jacket & pants). These are essential not just on rainy days, but to protect you from wind chill.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, hat
  • Water preferably in a refillable bottle
  • Personal medication (including for asthma and allergies).
  • Fleece or synthetic insulated jacket for a cold day.
  • Walking poles, a pair of gaiters, camera, binoculars (recommended)
